Photo taken in northern Ohio last week. Wondering whether this is a Rusty Blackbird?
Thanks for your help.

A lame answer - there were numerous reports of Rusty's in that area, but no reports of Brewers. Wish I had a better reason - but I did think that the bill was quite thin and bird was quite small overall. But have no comparison.

Distinguishing single Brewer's and Rusty males in breeding plumage in a photgraph is chancy, if possible at all. Checking known distribution, though, BRBL migrates through the NW corner of Ohio, and is otherwise a rare occurrence in the state (Singley maps). RUBL, on the other hand, winters throughout the state. So RUBL is certainly more likely unless the photo was taken around Toledo or westward.
