Voice recognition software (1 Viewer)

Is anybody using voice recognition software in the field to record their observations? If so what software are you using and on what device?
Thanks,
Tom Lawson.

I have dabbled with Evernote on android smartphones.

It works, wind noise reduces the accuracy. You have to input, then check / correct, so I don't think it is as quick as typing or pen / paper, or ebird / BTO birdtrack apps.

The voice recognition is certainly improving though, I think is powered by Google so it learns your accent / frequently used words and makes educated guesses. (For instance, I could never voice input "Widnes", a year or so ago.. it would return "witness". Now it always understands widnes. Either I have gone posh, or it has learnt my habits over time)

I find the Cortana one on Windows Phone works very well, but as above it needs to learn. But most, if not all, smartphone voice recognition isn't done on the phone itself it is sent over the ether to the great computer in the sky. You therefore need a good enough phone signal for a data connection, something not enjoyed by a lot of the wider countryside.
