A friend photographed these two birds in Jordan recently, and we can't I.D. them. Any help gratefully accepted! Thanks in advance.

The first pic look like Blackstart's Cercomela melanura
The second image appears to be a juv wheatear sp but the tail appears very black and also rather leggy and as I have no idea what a juv Blackstart looks like, i couldn't rule it out

Found some reference material this morning - 2nd pic does indeed look like a juv Blackstart

Thanks Rockfowl!:t:

Agree on adult blackstart for the first - the orangey breast isn't in the books but I also saw it on birds in Jordan and wondered if, like Lammergeier, it was acquired through dust-bathing in the reddish sands of Petra?

Have looked up juv Blackstart for the 2nd as I have never seen one, and the fit of some features is not perfect even though the all black tail seems to suggest ithat's what t must be. But I'm still a little concerned/interested in how Wheatear-like it is.
