It has been suggested that the male image on the White-tailed Flycatcher Opus article might be a Hainan Blue Flycatcher.

Obviously I have absolutely no idea LOL, so any help would be much appreciated.

Hainan Blue is not found on Borneo, so I doubt it.

It looks OK for White-tailed to me. It clearly has white tail-sides. I found a couple of similar images:

It's a White-tailed Flycatcher. Nothing else on Borneo is similar, as Andy says.

Of interest - the Bornean birds don't actually have white in the tail.

Oh right. I hadn't known that, but I've just checked some images on HBW and they bear this out. So the apparent white tail-sides on this bird must just be backlighting. In any case, it's not the outer tail feathers that are white on this species.
