Zeiss Deltrintam 8x30 (1 Viewer)

Is it possible to find out anything about an old-ish pair of 8x30 Deltrintam bins from the serial number? I have acquired a pair which I believe are quite old, but in good condition - focus wheel a bit stiff perhaps, but no obvious marks, sharp bright image etc. The serial number is DX03554.

Any thoughts gratefully received,

Paul

Andrew,

I can't help with serial numbers, but the most important change to the optics of the Deltrintem occured in the (mid?) 80's when the coatings changed from single layer to multi-coating. If the reflections from the glass in your bins are bluish-purple they are single layer. If they have an orange-magenta cast they are multi-coated. Of course, if they are really old (pre WWII) they probably don't have any coating at all, and the reflections won't have any strong color cast.

Henry
