Holger Merlitz: Distortion and globe effect in binoculars (new and improved)

Holger has a nice new web page (new to me at least) explaining the globe effect and the adding of pincushion distortion in binoculars.

Now with animated GIFs of computer simulations of the view through a Zeiss Jena 8x40 Deltar, a wide angle binocular with 11.3° field of view.

Just was last updated in April 2009.

You can find the PDF of the original paper on this thread (and on the net too)

But you may find the web page easier to grasp.

Very nice Kevin. I have checked out his page in the past (last time was the Kowa/Meopta/Vortex review comparison) but not recently. Since this forum is blocked at work it will give me something to do with my occasional free time.
