I do try to sort these things out for myself and on this occasion I have consulted "Guide des Insectes", Flickr images, Google images and David Element's wildlife pages but to no avail. This sort of camouflage effect just doesn't appear. Has anyone any idea what this particular grasshopper is?

I would be much appreciated for any input.

It's a solitary phase specimen of the Migratory Locust (Locusta migratoria),
probably a female (because of the colour....males are more usually brown)
