Purple Gallinule or Purple Swamphen query? (1 Viewer)

No photos, just a query - I note both are listed seperately on BUBO lists for western paleartic.

Which would i have been likely to have seen in Mallorca and in Spain? I thought they were one and the same?

You would have seen Purple Swamphen in Mallorca. This used to be called Purple Galliule but that name is now used for American Purple Gallinule, which I think may have been recorded as a vagrant in the WP.
