Help w/ bird garden (1 Viewer)

Im building a backyard pond and was hoping for suggestions of plants to put on top of the water and any groundcover plants, preferably native plants, any other type of plant would be great!:t:
 
If you mean for inside pond when you say top of water Hardy parrots feather is a nice plant that will spread on surface of water. I have some in pots on shelves in pond. Iv had it for over 5 years now just lower it in water during winter. Another plant is lizards tail that grows about 18 inches high and can be planted in pots just below surface of water. If your looking for plants that just float and don't need to be potted water hyacinth are nice but need to be tossed at the end of summer because they are not hardy. I usually buy about 4 every spring and they usually multiply by runners pretty fast once it herrs hot.
