I have a chance to stop off in ND for a day or so,. ...early Oct. I am thinking about flying into Minot and birding Des Laks. Again, just for a day or so. But in Oct would the usual sparrow / ground birds etc be around to view. I am looking for bairds, upland sandpipers, vespers, grasshopper etc etc.... Thanks in advance...jim

I'd check past sightings on eBird to see what is likely but I think the chances of seeing Baird's Sparrow in October would be close to zero - in fact I have just checked and there are no October records in ND for Upland Sandpiper or Baird's Sparrow and very few records of Vesper and one record of Grasshopper. Try to go in June when this area is simply amazing.

Eventually I will get there in June...but I am passing right over the state in another week and thought it would be just as easy to stop at that time and spend a day....
