coatings vs coatings... (1 Viewer)

Hello! Multiple coatings are precisely to maximize the light collected by the lenses. In a multi-coated binocular theory it would work better than a simple "coating optics" . However this does not happen if we compare a good binocular "coating" against a binocular with multiple coatings to low range or midrange.
I have some Japanese vintage binocular " coated optics " and the vision is sharper than any multi-coated modern binocular.
Especially if we compare a Porro prism binocular against one roof prism similar focal ratio .
Here also worth noting that there is a big difference between BK7 prisms binoculars and bak4 prisms binoculars.

I think that since the whole point of the coatings is to maximize light transmission, by minimizing light reflection from glass-air interfaces, the coating which made the lens surface more difficult to see would be the better coating.
