Oklahoma Birder
The temperatures have been at a 20 year record for most of June and July. We had fires in the winter and spring with very low rain fall. Just two weeks ago the weather broke and it has now rained more than any other August. ---
The old saying in Oklahoma is that if you don't like the weather just wait a minute.
What effect has the high temperatures and drought had on my local patch? I know it had an effect on the number of times I got out and birded so I don't think that the birds have suffered as much as my numbers indicate.
My 2005 local patch count was 133 and this year to date is 85. I will probably add a few more to my count of 85 this fall and winter.
