My birding adventures in the north east (1 Viewer)

at the weekend I went to the wooded area beside Monymusk.
The largest surprise for me was the presence of what appeared to be a breeding pair of Black swans. meadow pipit,Grey heron, and either bank or water vole were in abundance. I heard quite a few greater spotted woodpeckers, but ,just as they have for the last few years,the birds eluded me.

also, does anyone know where I have a good chance of seeing Common kingfishers in the North east?

The high water levels at the moment (due to snow melt In the hills) are making things difficult for Kingfishers so far this Spring.
