Last week I heard a call that I had not heard before and I have been unable to identify the bird that made it. The call came from the top of the live oak at the back of my yard. I couldn't see the bird while it was in the tree but it made this call five or six times before a bird in that tree flew away. I'm not sure that the bird I saw fly away was the one making the call but I didn't hear the call again after that bird took flight. The bird I saw flying away was similiar in size to a blue jay but I can't say what color it was, although I thought I saw some blue.

The call I heard was very loud. The first part of the call was high pitched and sounded like this: thweep. The second part of the call was very low pitched and deep and sounded like this: crackle, crackle. The call was followed by a pause of a second or two before it was repeated.
