Poisonous Tussock Caterpillar at RSPB Old Moor (1 Viewer)

Are you a headline writer for the Daily Mail or some other tabloid? Why the alarmist post? A fairly common Pale Tussock.

But it can cause irritation to the skin.

Well so can the hairs on many moth caterpillars. Several people including myself held one on a walk I was leading + to the best of my knowledge nobody suffered any reaction. I still find your title alarmist + perhaps irresponsible in that people who know little may then tread on such caterpillars thinking they are dangerous.

Would you post a photo of a Daffodil with caption "poisonous plant", because that's what it is?

Well said.

A much better headline would be "Attractive caterpillar found ..........".
