Waders in Central Park (1 Viewer)

This morning, I spotted three black crested night herons on the shores of New York's Cetral Park Lake and a great egret in the shallows right near the path, west of Bow Bridge. They have been frequenting the Lake for the last five weeks. As it was a weeday, I did not have the time to get close to any of the herons. I used a 7x42 glass, but an 8x30 would have done just as well.

I also spotted a common grackle and redwing blackbirds. All in all, a nice start to the day.

Good birding,

Hi Arthur! Did you mean Black-crowned Night Heron?

I'm hoping to get up there for the Fall migration and I am hoping I time it right. It's a great place to bird.

Indeed, I did.
