Though the white outer tail feathers aren't showing, I'd say female Coppery-headed Emerald based on the decurved bill.
 
Thankyou for your help sheri.I was very lucky as the bird perched up whilst I was photographing another hummer and I just managed 2 shots before it left giving me no time to take any notes.I had seen several males and did not think it looked right but did not obviously appreciate the plumage difference or for that matter the not so brilliant illustrations I could find.Thankyou once again for helping to solve a 6 year old mystery.
