I was walking down around the mouth of the alness river today where i seen around 20-25 bar tailed godwits, first time i've come across them, 1 rather lonely looking whooper swan, could'nt see a mate.... i seen my first sight of house martins this year ,approx 5-10 of them. A number of wheaters( beautiful bird) lapwings, curlews,

Any views on the whooper, could it be passing through or maybe nesting?

The Whooper is probaly about to go. I snapped a dozen here the other day that have been wintering but i dont supose thay will last mutch longer. The geese and Widgeon have thined out spectacularly now and the last will go with the arival of the swallows. Nice to see house martins hopefully thay will be ariving here soon. Isnt it a fantastic area around Alness.
