Vega Triton No. 748 (1 Viewer)

Happy to get some Triton 748's, apparently this was a Vega design before Swift acquired them? Nice sharp image. More compact than I expected. Need to be greased, but the glass and overall condition is nice.

Would like to get info on date made, etc.

I would estimate late-50s to early-60s.

I just made an interesting discovery...
I got a pair with a broken arm at auction and
took it apart, mainly to get the EPs and adapt them to 1.25 telescope use.

It turns out the eyepiece is a sort of Kelner, but is has been enhanced with a
very slight parabolic grind on the surface that's normally flat for a Kelner.
The reflections don't look like those from a spherical surface.
Pretty cool, aspheric optics.
They are kind of a booby-trap to take apart...there are snap rings that
make it impossible to take it apart without an exotic too...or in my case.
damaging the eyecup scheme.
