unknown fungi, Panjin, Liaoning, China (1 Viewer)

Just some curiosities that I ran across on my walk today in Dawa County, Panjin city, Liaoning, China, that I thought somebody here might find interesting. The first four were all together growing out of a stump in three clumps. I speculate that that they are the same species just in different stages of development. The last was an odd fuzzy looking growth on the main trunk of a willow tree. Sorry with the low light I thought I had better focus than I actually did.

Hi Owen,

I guess the fist species is a Coprinellus, one of the 'Inkcaps' (hence the black sticky goo they turn into on your second pic).

The second species is a slime-mould, perhaps something close to Stemonaria longa.

Looking forward to seeing some more Chinese fungi :)

Cheers,
Nick

Ah, very good. Something else interesting to take note of during my outings! I doubt that I will become an expert on such, but still always glad to learn and to supply those of greater expertise with images.

Writing this caused me to remember another similar fungi from two years ago while I was just north of Lawrence, Kansas, USA. The insects feeding on it where Firefly, which are common in that part of Kansas.
