When was the picture taken Steve? Were there other EPO about?
Surely this has to be some form of hybrid, with SMO as one parent, but if the photo has been taken this year it seems very early.
Jeff
I would welcome any opinions on this EPO seen at Cors Bodeilio. Certainly more chunky than the usual rather spindly EPOs, and those leaves just don't seem to fit.
Hi Steve
I found a couple of similar plants, I think it was last year, at a site where both EPO and SMO occur - but the conclusion I reached was they were just rather robust EPOs. I'll see if I can find the photos sometime.
Have you got any close ups of the flowers on yours?
First SMOs just starting to flower locally here.
Rich
If, repeat if, a hybrid then not SMO but EPO which has overlapping flowering times, same pollinators, and both grow on the site. Those leaves are so unlike EPO. More marsh orchid colour, semi erect and not a spot in sight.
Do you know how many chromosomes EPOs have?
Morning all
I'll be driving up to Cumbria this week and wondered if anyone has looked at Gait Barrows this year? Probably too early for the star attraction but they were all over by mid June last year and with some plants being early this year I just wondered?

Any news of Bee Orchids flowering in southern counties yet?
