The Evolution of Beauty by Richard Prum (1 Viewer)

I want to recommend Richard Prum's new work, "The Evolution of Beauty." It is one of the best science books I have ever read. While the book is technically about sexual selection as a driver of evolution, the first two-thirds of the book focus heavily on birds. It is valuable for readers interested in evolution, in birds, and in nature in general. I would be eager to hear other assessments of this work.

Simon: Yes, I have always been intrigued by the topic of beauty as well. I had always thought of the appreciation of beauty as a human phenomenon, but I have modified that view because of this book.

Bought it at Bird Fair, read it last week - well worth it - like all the best books there are parts of it that I disagree with (or at least think the case made is less than watertight). Always in favour of being made to think!
