San Francisco Bay as I've never seen it before (1 Viewer)

Must be a nightmare for the shipping policing - how do they avoid collisions between whales, large ships, small ships, and windsurfers??

I've heard that the cargo and cruise ships are required to slow down, but surfers and small boats do get dangerously close

and sometimes collide with whales

Most of them (surfers and boaters) are doing it (approaching whales) in purpose.

Does anyone know if the Humpbacks are still around?

I've got a friend who is in San Francisco over the next couple of weeks who would like to see them.

Thanks

Chris

I have heard some whales are still there, but in much smaller numbers.

Thanks for letting me know

It's probably not a bad thing if the whales have started moving on with all the attention from the boats there

Chris

Another place to check on the whales is Golden Gate Strait https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0l4JH5xRrHw

I filmed it from shore, but as you would see there is a whale watching tour there. It leaves from Pier 39. They are able to find whales deep inside the Bay and sometimes they go to the ocean too.. I've heard the cost is 45 USD or so.

My friends were just wanting to watch from land or from the Alcatraz boat trip but thanks for the information about the whale tour anyway
