Vixen eye pieces for Pentax 65mm scope (1 Viewer)

I've had the 8mm-25mm zoom (Vixen LV Zoom)for a long time, and it works very well, though sometimes a bit dim at the 8mm (49x) end. I sometimes like to have something a bit better than binocular view for close up birds. I use this 30mm eye piece then. I also use it to take some beginner birders out as they are not familiar with my rubber cup eye piece and I get tired of adjusting it. The cup here works for anyone.

The view is pretty bright and at least as good as my 8x and 10x binoculars. 30mm comes out to 13x.

Other than that I once tried a 5mm Vixen just to see what it does. It was worse than the zoom at 8mm, dimmer and image breaking up. The 6mm to 8mm individual eye pieces may be of some use on the bigger Pentax, but 8mm and 10mm is the limit here.

I digiscoped with an iPhone but the phone decided to focus on the grass and not the gulls behind it. At 30mm.

No. Had no reason so far. Probably the best investment would be to get an 80mm scope. And these old eye pieces are hard to sell. Maybe at cloudy nights.

I don't actually like to change the eye pieces during the day, but the Meade wide angle are at least a good price, might be good for bird counts on lakes.

There are expensive Vixen models at OP, starting from this page.

also assorted mid price. Click arrow at bottom.

I have used the Vixen NLV 25mm on the little Pentax & it is very pleasant to use .... but this scope performs best with a XW14 or XW20 eyepiece , pricey but its like looking thru a large window. .... gwen

I looked at scopes and prices and all. I decided to not do anything, my scope has been fine some 5 years maybe more. But since this is soon becoming a bit of a dinosaur...whatever happens to Pentax...I decided I will just have two identical Vixen eye pieces for it. There are some signs of age on the original one. I onlyever had one PF Pentax eye piece and use the zoom about 90% of the time. If it is just me, then just the zoom. There were cheaper Celestron zooms but hey, they were cheaper.:eek!::eek!::king: I just want the same I know.

This will get me the maximum life. The scope is in the lake thread:

It got me my 165th Nebraska lifer (state list) on Monday. Red-breasted merganser. I bird with glasses on so the bent back rubber eye cup is ideal for me. I never use screw out eye cups now.
