Fuchsia

Bug Babe
Hello all,
I have another mystery that I'm sure you'll make short work of. This bird only had the one stripe on it's wing. The undertail was white - I'm pretty sure the uppertail was too (I saw it briefly as it took off) and the tail feathers were black. When I filmed it in my garden at the end of August I thought it was a young Chaffinch but have thought again since. I've looked through every website I know and found nowt!

Best wishes

Jen :stuck:

Thanks chaps
I do wish more web-sites would show young birds as it's these that stump me.
I'm chuffed to bits that it's a Bullfinch - they are quite shy here - the more the better as they are my favourite bird.

Thanks again

Jen,

Chuffed to bits??? Would you please provide me with an accurate meaning for that? I believe it's slang for excited...like tickled pink is here.

Thanks, Kate :)

Jen,
Very interesting link. Thanks.

And from your comment that you were "chuffed to bits" rather than "tres contente", I'm guessing you're not a native from Bretagne.
