Hi,

Looking through some old pics of mine I found this Gull...is 1cy type Lesser Black-backed Gull or a Yellow-legged Gull?

Looks like a Lesser Black-Backed Juvenile, moulting into 1st winter.
 
Ah im glad Jan confirmed what I thought! Structurally this bird strikes me as Yellow-legged, the beak is heavy for LBBG, the tertial step large, and it just appears too full chested. Add to this the fact that the head is relatively pale, and the breast on LBBG is usually darker YLG is still good. The mantle appears to be moulting through a few feathers which are not dark enough for LBBG too.
 
You got me there Jan ;)...I found the photo in a Birding Contest in January and didn't want to be to brutal as to reveal my doubt of the answer as there are many eyes on BF :)...you can never fool Jan on gulls though, that's for sure!!
