Growing call for grouse shooting ban (1 Viewer)

58-42 in favour of the pacman

botham is an idiot. firstly, he says no prosecutions in the uk - specifically for HH but no one is denying they are dissappearing - two shot whilst a royal was out and about with his peashooter. ofcourse there are no prosecutions and that is the problem. if there were prosecutions then maybe the 'slaughter' would slow down and people would be happier.

secondly, attacking a successful industry. successful for who, providing jobs for who? low skilled (not necessarily the gamekeepers) and top up incomes - meaning cash in hand for the beaters over the next couple of months - hardly supporting the local communities. the money goes to the land owners at the end of the day.

at the same time without cap subsidies these places would have wrapped many years ago. so we are paying for the privelege of having 'our' raptors wiped out through our taxes. if something isn't viable without 1. illegal activity and 2. ridiculous subsidies that are being abused instead of protecting valuable landscapes.

if the best they can throw at the problem is beefy then logically shouldn't have much of a problme bowling them over...

ps see the petition and sign it

Sadly I've just checked the latest position of the vote and it's now level at 50% Chris Packham and 50% Ian Botham in the Northern Echo.
Ian.

I never did think much of Botham... great cricketer, but not much liked as a man - I seem to remember him being described as a "Big-headed bully" by some team-mates.

Sad really that anyone has any interest in his opinions about anything except Cricket.
