Hi
I have a pair of Zeiss Jena Deltrentis binoculars.
Serial 1050938
They have what l presume is the retailer stamped on the front?
Westminster Photographic Exchange Ltd in Oxford st London West.

Any info on these would be great, are they rare having the retailer on them?
Any idea of what they're worth?

Thanks in advance,
Rob.

Hello Rob

I think this was not uncommon practice in the UK until perhaps the 1960s.
I have a pair of Barr and Stroud 8x30s circa 1950s with the Edinburgh retailer details stamped on.
Doubt it makes any significant difference to the value.
Check on ebay for a rough guide to their value. Incidentally I think they are perhaps Deltrintems?

The Deltrentis and Deltrintem were introduced in 1920. You may have one of the first ever produced samples :)

Cheers,
Holger

Thanks for the replies,
I've just added some pics.
They definitely say Deltrentis on them.
I didn't realise they'd be as early as 1920.
Anyone know the serial number of the first one?
It would be great if these were one of the first.
Rob.

Nice find Rob, as Holger said, definitely a very early one. If Gary spots this thread he may be able to help with the serial number.

Thanks,
That's great,
I've been searching online but can't any that are exactly the same as these? These have a knurled knob with a hole through it on the front pivot point? It looks original?
Rob.

There were way more made than only 1250 pieces. This was just one series out of really many series (in the case of the Deltrentis).

Zeiss used to produce binoc's in blocks so there were many blocks of different models.
