Tuesday May 03, 2005:
A PILEATED WOODPECKER, several HUTTON'S VIREOS, many TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS a BLUE GROUSE, a VARIED THRUSH and a CHIPPING SPARROW were seen up on Notch Hill at Nanoose Bay.
A pair of AMERICAN GOLDFINCH are coming to feeders at the Jingle Pot Camp Ground in Nanaimo.
A WESTERN TANAGER was seen at Hemer Provincial Park in Cedar.
26 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were spotted at Quennell Lake in Cedar.
A WILSON'S WARBLER was seen along the Cable Bay Trail in Cedar.
Monday May 02:
"RARE BIRD ALERT"
A LONG-BILLED CURLEW was spotted at the Ballenas Secondary School near Highway 19a and Pym Road in Parksville.
SEMI-PALMATED PLOVERS were sighted at the Nanaimo River Estuary.
12 RED CROSSBILLS were seen along Evenshire Criscent in Nanoose Bay.
Two BARRED OWLS were seen at Jingle Pot and Kilpatrick Roads in Nanaimo.
CHIPPING SPARROWS were seen in Comox.
Sunday May 01:
One SEMI-PALMATED PLOVER was seen in with a flock of DUNLIN, WESTERN SANDPIPERS and LEAST SANDPIPERS at the Englishman River Estuary.
12 RED CROSSBILLS, GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS and five RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS were seen coming to feeders in the Qualicum Woods area of Qualicum Beach
The Sunday Bird Walk went to Buttertubs Marsh in Nanaimo and found the following fifty species:

A MOURNING DOVE was spotted in the 6400 block of Dover Road in Nanaimo.
Friday April 29:
A LONG-BILLED CURLEW and five SANDHILL CRANES was seen near the Englishman River Estuary and the Surf Side Resort in Parksville.
Thursday April 28:
A pair of MERLINS were seen Petra and Negrin Roads in Lantzville.
AMERICAN PIPITS were seen at Legacy Marsh in upper Lantzville.
PACIFIC LOONS, MARBLED MURRLETTS, PIGEON GUILEMOTS, and COMMON LOONS were spotted off Sebastion Point in Lantzville.

"Please report first arrivals of adult and subadult Purple Martins at nesting colonies and any other noteworthy sightings (e.g. birds seen at other locations than known colony sites, inland sightings on fresh water, etc.) to [email protected]. Many martins also have a coloured band with an alphanumeric code on one leg that can be read with a scope - please report any band numbers observed (band colour, right or left leg and band code) to this address and you will receive information on the banding origin and known history of the bird. Thanks for your assistance with our ongoing dispersal and recruitment tracking study. - BC Purple Martin Stewardship and Recovery Program."
