Hi

Taking a trip to the Poole area at the beginning of August. Does anyone have advice regarding good spots to visit and what species might be around?

Thanks

Hi Remote

Poole is in Dorset, so I moved your post to the South West forum.

Have a look here in Opus, you'll find quite a few articles to keep you busy until someone else pops in with some more advice for you.

Hello Delia

As a resident Poole harbour birder I would suggest Brownsea and Arne as the obvious places to visit. Lodmoor in Weymouth is worth a trip, however Portland is home to the Olympic sailing so is going to be very busy. Wareham forest is worth a visit for Hobbys. With luck there might be some migrants appearing soon although it is a tad early.
