Coastal Bird ID Please, between Great Yarmouth and Lowerstoft - England (1 Viewer)

Saw this single bird swimming about 50 metres out following coastline near Corton, Suffolk. Can anyone ID for me please. Sorry photo not good very dull day.

Blimey, that got a bit heated! My policy is to take note of where the OP is based and where the bird in question was seen. If an American posted the same picture I'd have said the bird was a Common Murre. Bilingualism is a useful skill sometimes on BF!

That's a good diplomatic rule Andrew.B :)
 
Enjoying your thread Andrew - the painfully blue sky behind the bunting and the Junco bring back great memories of my own trip. I'm very envious of all the seabirds in summer plumage too.
