Greater Roadrunner Wichita Kansas (1 Viewer)

This is the first time I've seen one in Kansas in my 62 years. It was crossing Kellogg AKA K-54 AKA I-400, this morning around 10:00 a.m. CDST from south to north just north of the Wichita Airport. Traffic was medium volume and fast as usual, but the bird was faster. I think the natural habitat is desert, and from personal experience the expanse of airport paving can sure seem like a desert. Wondering if anyone else in Wichita or Kansas has seen the same?

Congrats Rhombar, great bird. Seen one way out in southwest part of Kansas in '96. Was visiting relatives, while driving on US/State 56 somewhere in Morton county. Cant recall much beyond seeing the bird in that vicinity.

Fabulous thing about that bird, difficult to confuse with anything else.
