First bird was taken in the Serengeti. Presume its some kind of Canary but doesn't match my bird book. Second bird was taken on the rim of Ngorongoro and I think is a Whinchat but am open to suggestions.

The first one is either a Lesser masked or a Vitelline masked weaver, I would favour the latter on this image.
The second bird is an African stonechat.

Hi David,

First is a female/young Ploceus weaver. I rarely reach an precise ID on a single photo of such a bird, but I'd guess Vitteline Masked Weaver. May be Tib can help.

Second is a moulting male (African) Stonechat.

Hi David,

Eye colour has no meaning year because the bird is young. Pink legs, in opposite, are good for Vitelline, no Lesser Masked.

Cheers
