Thailand in January

Hi
We are likely to be in Bangkok in January. Would this be a reasonable time to visit Doi Inthanon and other places in the north. We are open to travelling elsewhere if it would be better at that time of year, such as Taman Negara.
Thanks
Tony

How long for? I can highly recommend Doi Inthanon, a fantastic site and don't rule out sites like Khao Yai and Kaeng Krachan which will be really good in January. I seem to remember that it's the wet season in Malaysia in January so it might be worth concentrating on Thailand...

Doi Inthanon is only a couple of hours from Chiang Mai, while Khao Yai and Kaeng Krachan are about 4 hours from Bangkok. I don't know how you intent to travel about the country, but internal flights are both cheap and quick for getting to Chiang Mai.

Also, if you want to spend longer in the north then consider some of the other parks like Doi Chang Dao and Doi Ang Kang.

January is the perfect time to visit the north - loads of wintering sibes to enjoy!

The weather should be sunny and very pleasant, but beware that the mountain tops will be cold (by Thai standards) early morning and evening.

Best wishes

Dave
