Saturday 21st Feb, high tide 11-30am.
very frosty start very cold wind along coast road.

nells hide.

Blackheaded gulls in their 100s.

8. lesser blacked backed.

100+ wigeon.

70. teal.

6. pintail.

4. tufted duck.

Next to sand plant, overlooking marsh on fence posts.

1. stonechat. male.

2. brambling, in amongst long grass on sand dunes.

2. shorteared owls, over marsh.

2. kestrel, hunting over grass land next to sandgrounders hide.

most enjoyable morning.

Sounds good.

We jokingly describe Marshside as one of the coldest places in the region to birdwatch, along with Morecambe Stone Jetty and Audenshaw Resevoirs so I bet it was "thin" today!!
