My Perma-Focus experience (1 Viewer)

As part of a 'bunch-o-binocs' lot I got at auction, I ended up with
10x42 Bushnell Perma-Focus roofs. Of course, Perma-Focus is just focus
fixed at infinity. At 10 power, the view was useless at 50 ft, almost sharp at
100 ft, and very sharp indeed at 150' plus. A pretty good view too.
Since any eye correction is an absolute necessity (glasses, contacts, etc),
using them with glasses is accordingly well set-up for relief and cushioning.

Under 150 ft it was pretty irksome, but the convenience for distance was
pretty good. I'd imagine ruggedness and seal life would be extra good as well.
A sealed Perma-Focus at 6-7 power (more depth of field) would seem quite
sensible for boating. 10x42 seems peculiar, although for fields, marshes,
and lakes and oceans it makes sense.

I search the local scrub oaks and pines too much to use these much,
but I can see the appeal for some things...
