Hello everyone!

Pretty new to birding and having a hard time identifying this little guy.

He was spotted on June 27th, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. Pretty small bird. Maybe sparrow-sized or a little bit larger. Captured the picture in a wooded area while walking around the Jacksonville Zoo. My boyfriend brought me to see the animals in captivity but I spend a large part of the day birding too! 3:)

If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated! I've been scouring my Sibley and some other field guide but I'm still new and overwhelmed by the variety of passerines out there!

Check out the N Parula -- looks like a young bird to me.

And welcome to Birdforum!

Niels

Thanks!

I definitely think you're right about it being a young bird. Had some friends take a look as well and they suggested the same thing. I appreciate the help!
