Following on from other threads regarding Redpoll confusion, is it fair to say that being small (have to take my word on that!) and brown, this would be a Lesser Redpoll ie caberet??

Thanks David,

Do you happen to know whether Mealies and Lessers congregate together?? I caught a glimpse of a larger pale Redpoll as well today....

Yep, it's always worth checking Redpoll flocks that are predominantly Lessers for a Mealy or even an Arctic - they all mix in together. Last winter at Titchwell the Redpoll flock at Titchwell numbered only 4 birds... but contained one Lesser, two Mealies and an Arctic. Fantastic when you had all of them in the same scope view!
