Whilst I was gardening this evening i noticed an apparently dead slug covered in these long thin black worm like creatures which appeared to be devouring it. There were also a few more climbing up the wall, the longest i saw was about 3 inches or their abouts. would anyone know what they would be?

Millipedes?

nope unsegmented worms of somesort. they have no legs. I have a feeling they might be the New Zealand Flatworm after doing some research

It might be worth checking out Mermis nigrescens, a parasitic nematode. They normally attack large insects / spiders but on the Internet I can find records of them paratizising slugs.
