Canon SX230

Recently purchased a Canon SX230 14x optical zoom compact. Generally very nice. However I had hoped, with its manual programming features, large bright screen and built in GPS, that I could use it for digiscoping, but the lens extends so far it is difficult to find a mounting position on adapter. Also the vignetting problem is extreme and I can't seem to be able to overcome it with any zoom setting.

So is there something I can do to make it useable, or is it (or superzooms in general) just unsuited to digiscoping?

It is generally unsuited for digiscoping, but you can get a limited range from longer zoom lenses with the Kowa VA3 adapter and Kowa 25x LER Eyepiece.
You need a lot of Eye Relief.
You will probable find that it is only unvignetted in the short end of the lens, even with the long ER eyepieces so you won't get much more magnification than you are getting with the camera along.
The Canon S90/S100 would be a better bet for digiscoping.
