I was just saying that the word "cup" is very closely derived from Late Latin, and still resembles the English word. ;)

Oh, and also, English is a huge mish-mash of tons of languages, Latin and Greek only make up a bit of it.
 
yes, but greek/latin are the main roots...


people used to speak latin...

Well, I'm no expert at bird biology, but I'll guess that cup is the non-scientific one.


Well, you got it! The "Scientific word/s" is statant cup, which means "a cup supported from the bottom".
