COAL TIT
:h

In our garden we have a rowan tree that every year has a good
show of blossom and berries and from early july throughout
August we have our resident blackbirds along with occasional
Mistle thrush and starlings joining in to feast on these berries
Along with the rowan berries we have a fig tree which fruits
readily from august into September and its me versus the
blackbirds who get the majority of the figs they are always
there ready to feast, but this year the rowan berries along
with the figs have not been touched along with the surreal
absence of any blackbirds or song in fact none of the birds
you could associate with normally at this time of the year
relateing to this food crop, I can only relate this to there being
a surplus food supply elsewhere (has anyone else) witnessed
or experienceing the same similar events as myself this
(summer/auturm) period.

Yes, same here for the first time! Earlier, at the time they would normally take the berries, they tried them but they weren't ripe. There are now a couple of blackbird taking an occasional one. From what I've seen, there is a bumper supply of all kinds of berries this year, so maybe feeding in the garden won't cost so much! (Famous last words!)
