In general, approximately how close would a 50mm lens on a dslr need to be to the eyepiece on your scope?

Would appreciate any help you could give me on this question.

It would depend on the Eye Relief of the eyepiece, but an average eyepiece with ER of 18-20 mm you wouldn't have to be too close but 50 mm gives you a lot of leaway.
