Male greenfinch shot in urban garden in West Fife, April 04.
Normally visits about twice daily, & is most partial to
shelled sunflower seeds. Normally a female in the offing,
but not on this occasion.

Dear Scampo,
It certainly looks that way. Apparently a hawfinch
can crack cherry & sloe stones, which argues
astounding power. The greenfinch isn't quite in
that league ; but not so far off, either.

Regards,
Rod

Indeed - but please don't talk to me about hawfinches!! We spent hours last week searching for the little blighters - rewarded with a brief glimpse of one atop a tree at Lynford. Doh!
