Hello,
Would love to tell you about the hawk taht changed my life... His name is Pale Male and he is the most well-known red-tailed hawk in NYC. Because of him, I did quit my job as a manager of a hair salon on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and became a NYC wildlife filmmaker!
I'm curious to know if other red-tails are nesting also on building and if yes where?
Also our male is often hunting like a peregrine falcon. Have you ever observed a RTH trying to catch pigeons out of the air?
Thank you
All the best,
Frederic

Hello Frederic and on behalf of all the Moderators and Admin here at Bird Forum.....Welcome!

I am very familiar with the Red-tails of Central Park and have been extremely fortunate in viewing the nest of the Red-tails in love on many occasions. I am a former New Yorker and get up there quite often to visit my son.

Ahhh, I thought the name Pale Male sounded familiar!

For others reading this post, this is referring to the book "Red Tails in Love" by Marie Winn -- a perfectly marvelous read about Red-tailed Hawks nesting in NYC.

Seems I remember they were nesting on an apartment building ledge outside the apartment belong to Mary Tyler Moore?
