Hi I am new and I have a few questions if you guys don't mind!!

I have a feeder they don't drink out of anymore, it's weird I washed with hot water along with the other feeder, but they just don't drink out of it anymore it's frustrating. Would it be that there were some bird droppings on/near it and it still have the smell even though I washed it? one other possibility is that the feeder doesn't have a place to perch on, but the other one do. could that be the reason? yestrday the whole day they didn't drink out of this feeder, so today I removed the other feeder so they only have this feeder, but they come and look at it, and left.

I got wild birds drinking out of the feeder, you can't stop that huh? I also got bees drinking out of the feeders, hopefully I won't get too many bees.

Oh I put the wild bird feeder and hummingbird feeder next to each other (on a shepherd's hook) maybe it's too close to the other feeder so they don't drink from it? sometimes when there are a lot of birds they seem afriad to come too. how do you guys have it set up? should I get another hook to make them further apart

I had my feeders up for 2,3 weeks now, so far I only seen 3 hummingbirds. 2 visits daily but all of them are Calliope. (the green ones) I am in Vegas I believe all year around I got anna's and costa's. how come I have yet to see them? wait longer than 3 weeks? and when they come they drink and take off right away, some videos I saw they kept drinking it or stayed around for a little bit. just keep the feeders out and keep waiting I guess?

thanks!

Hi Suiken.

I would definitely move the feeder so it is away from other feeders. Preferably in some shade and where the hummer can disappear quickly into leaves. I trust you are using the 4 to 1 ratio of water to sugar in your feeders.

Other than that, just be patient. My hummers rarely stay at the feeders for long but will go to a branch above the feeder where they can spot any interlopers and charge after them quickly ;)
