Try Gerard Gorman's Birding in Eastern Europe for starters. Forest birding is at it's most difficult from October onwards! Have you Googled 'Reserves in southern Poland'? There is quite a variety of habitats o explore.

There's a lot of articles in Opus covering Poland, but I'm ashamed to say my geographical knowledge of the country is pretty poor.

There's only one article which actually mentions Wroclaw and that's this one.

Try English sections of sites forum.przyroda.pl , birdwatching.pl and clanga.com. There are many active birdwatchers in Wroclaw.

First areas that come to mind are Milicz fishponds - October has huge flocks of waterbirds including usually Red-Breasted and Lesser White-fronted Geese. Also concentrations of White-tailed Eagles, Cranes, Great Egrets etc.

Reservoirs Nyski, Turawski and Otmuchowski are also good, esp. for waders and rarities.
