Clarke's Weaver was 'discovered ' in 1913 by Brigadier-General Goland Vanholt Clarke ,an ornithologist and collector , who sent a specimen to his brother in uk , also an army man who 'wrote up ' the description.
It is an endemic to Kenya, and only found in Arabuko- Sokoke Forest near Malindi on the coast of Kenya.
No one has ever found the nesting site until now .
Nature Kenya has had a project in Dakatcha forest [ some 30 miles north of A-S] and the team, lead by Fleur Ngweno] has found the nesting site of some 1000 birds . A great find .
Brian Finch,Colin Jackson and I were very priviledged to be invited to the site one day after the discovery .

\It was like finding a needle in a hay stack . The site is so remote , some 2/3 hours NW of Malindi.
Fantastic that 100 years after discovery the nesting site was found

Fantastic! Out of interest, is this one huge colony, or dispersed around the area of forest?
