Yesterday I finally had time to set up the Orion 80 and snap a couple of birds (purple finch and tufted titmouse) on the feeder. Not very exciting as photographs, but I am impressed with the IQ. Focussing was easier than I expected as well.

These shots are cropped from roughly 4000x3000 pixels down to about 2500x1700 or so, then resized to fit forum rules.

Next step is to start experimenting with my 1.4x teleconverter.

Congratulation...very nicely done and I can see that you are very excited about it. You got enough there in the feeder to feed the whole colony..... With more practice, you'll be surprised how much you can improve your picture ...go on shooting....

@Alphan - yes, it's a big feeder, but I still have to refill it every 4 days or so. It's amazing how much a few small birds can eat.
