Here's two of the little suckers. Two pics each of two birds. taken at Rainham Marshes. I can't seem to get consensus on these, so passing them over to you experts ;-)

both are chiffers. short wings, prominent eyering, darkish legs, warm brownish upperparts, plain dark ear coverts.

Out of interest, is it the posture of the bird in the first photo that make its wings look long? This is one of the few differences of non-singing birds that I've managed to remember (ww wings extend further back), and the first picture seems to show this to me. Not disagreeing at all with the identification, just wondering

Also out of intreest, but it is NOT the length of the wing which are different of CC and WW but the Primary projection !

The PP seems short in pic #1 also.

The flight photo shows clearly that it is a Chiffchaff, the 4th and 5th primaries are the longest, ie form the wing point and the 6th is emarginated, classic ID features for a Chiff in the hand
